Okay, this may not be a family heirloom recipe, considering I just heard of it a couple of weeks ago, but it is definitely a family favorite.  It got raving reviews from all four family members, plus meets my requirement of easy to have on hand ingredients and really easy to prepare.  Click here for the rest… »

Applesauce

Apple picking has always been a family tradition in my family. So one gorgeous fall day when I was in college, we loaded up the car with my roommates and went apple picking.  We came home and decided to make applesauce, but had no idea how to make it.  I went to school SO long ago, we did have the Internet to quickly pull things up readily on hand.  So we called my mom and she walked up through what she could remember.  Turns out, applesauce is really easy to make.  I’ve combined a couple of recipes so that when you decide to make applesauce, you have a recipe guideline to go by.

Brunswick Stew

This recipe comes straight from down south from my mother in law.  She makes her famous Brunswick stew every time we go town to visit her.   When we drive to visit, she will make extra so that I can take some home with me.  It is southern cooking at its finest.  This recipe comes to us from love and many, many years of cooking, thus, all measurements are approximate as are the cooking methods.   Click here for the rest… »

Congratulations to Tom and Maria on the birth of their third little one, weighing in at 8 pounds 9 ounces!  In honor of the mom and new baby, I have gathered a bunch of potato recipes.  Why, you ask?  I once heard mashed potatoes were Maria’s favorite thing to eat.

  1. Cheeseburger Stuffed Potatoes A great weeknight meal for the family. It’s toddler friendly too
  2. Creamed Cheese Potato Soup This soup was a recipe given me by my walking friend. It is very east and delicious.
  3. Lakehouse Yummy Potatoes “Multpurpose.. leftovers can be used in scrambled eggs, omelettes, or the next day with hot dogs after a day of boating” – Jack Rumpke
  4. Do Ahead Potato Puff A rich dish that is a staple at Thanksgiving
  5. Baked Potato Soup “Baked” Potato Soup is a great cock pot recipe that is great for those cold winter nights.
