I found this recipe that my dad …Grandpa John Rumpke used to make years ago…It took him all day to make though but it sure was very good. We ate it for months.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds fresh shoulder or calle with bone (available at Stahlins)
  • 3 pounds ground chuck
  • 2 pounds Dorsals pin head oatmeal
  • 3 medium onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Garlic salt (or 1/2 garlic, chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 25 drops red hot sauce
  • 6 bay leaves

Directions

  • Brown beef. Put beef and pork in pan of water. Cook 1 hours. Put spices in with meat. Keep water 1/2 way on top of meat. Put in oatmeal. Stir constantly. May need more water. When water is gone, it’s finished.  Cook oatmeal about 1 hour.Cook altogether about 2 or 2 1/2 hours.
