This is the fudge recipe my mom used to make that I took over as soon as I was old enough to cook. It is a favorite of mine during the holidays. It was the old recipe on the back of the marshmallow cream jar, but they changed it about 7-8 years ago. After many phone calls and web searches, I finally found the old recipe (which in my opinion, is better than the new one)
Ingredients
- 3 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup butter
- 5 ounces evaporated milk
- 12 ounces chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups marshmallow cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
- Heat sugar, butter and evaporated mil to a full rolling boil in a heavy saucepan on medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil on medium heat for 4 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent scorching. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate chips and marshmallow cream until melted; stir in vanilla. Spread in foil lined 9 inch pan. Cool at room temperature at least 4 hours, cut into squares. Store in an airtight container.
Notes
- Make sure you have all the ingredients prepared and laid out before you start. It is hard to open a bag of chocolate chips while constantly stirring.
